Finally, he said of the canned Port and tonic, “We believe it will create more consumption moments, more awareness, and drive bottle sales, so it’s positive for the long-term trajectory of Port.” Talking about the can’s contents, he said that Taylor’s Chip Dry white Port is mixed with a “naturally dry tonic”, because, although the alcoholic component is a ‘dry’ Port, it has 32 g/l of sugar which means there is already a certain amount of sweetness, even though it’s around one third the standard amount in Port.

Produced in limited quantities, Chip Dry white Port is sold in individually numbered bottles marked with the name of the cellar in which the wine was aged. Chip Dry White Port is a stylish and sophisticated aperitif, the perfect introduction to a relaxed meal. It is best served chilled in a large Port glass and accompanied by marinated olives or roasted almonds. Chip Dry can also be used to make a refreshing and original summer drink by mixing one part of Chip Dry white Port with two parts of chilled Tonic water in a tall glass, adding a sprig of mint or a twist of lemon. For many, Taylor's is the archetypal Port house and its wines the quintessential Ports. Established over three centuries ago in 1692, Taylor's is one of the oldest of the founding Port houses. It is dedicated entirely to the production of Port wine and in particular to its finest styles. Explaining the reason for this, Bridge told db that “Port is a highly regulated industry”, adding, “Port has specific characteristics, which do not include being diluted with tonic water”.
